Permeation of Catholic Faith in Edmonton Catholic Schools (Parent Info)

Welcome to the St. Alphonsus School community! We hope that the information on this website will help to familiarize you with our school.

The St. Alphonsus community upholds the sacred responsibility to provide the greatest spiritual learning environment through embracing the holistic growth and development of each individual student to enable a journey that inspires constant growth in core values, academic learning, physical and mental health and service toward God in one another.

St. Alphonsus School offers an outstanding academic program within the context of our Catholic identity and our core values. Our students will learn together, work together, and pray together in answering the call to a faith-filled life of service.

Our teachers are dedicated professionals who, through academics and an emphasis on intellectual, spiritual, emotional and social growth, ensure that each student is at the core of their teaching pedagogy. Students in our school are immersed in a learning environment that is safe and conducive to their educational needs.

For the 2011-2012 School Year, St. Alphonsus will be one of three schools offering a YEAR ROUND schooling calendar.  This calendar allows us to balance our instructional days into four terms with vacation breaks between each of the terms.  Instructional days for students is EXACTLY the same for the year round calendar and the traditional calendar.  Year Round schooling gives parents another choice for their children's education and reduces concern of learning loss over a longer summer break.  We are very excited about this new initiative and truly believe it will benefit our students.

Students in Junior High enjoy having some choice in terms of the complementary courses they take. At St. Alphonsus, complementary courses (options), provides students with a wide variety of choice according to their own individual interests. These courses help students expand their educational experiences beyond the core subjects.

St. Alphonsus provides students with an innovative and vibrant learning environment. We have a Foods Lab, computer Lab, and Science Lab.  Many of our classrooms have Smart Board technology to enhance student learning.  Our staff members have been carefully chosen for their excellence in teaching, their commitment to Catholic education and our core values, their energy, and their enthusiasm. We are extremely excited about the great things happening in our school and we hope that you will be, too!

At St. Alphonsus we strive to maintain close communication with our families in order to serve the needs of our students. We look forward to your presence and contributions in making your child’s educational experience productive, rewarding, and memorable.

Sincerely,

St. Alphonsus Staff
